Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to typical questions about working with IT Hummel.
What kinds of projects does IT Hummel take on?
Web development, custom software development, automation, IT consulting, maintenance & support as well as Shopware projects, self-hosted infrastructure (e.g. Nextcloud, newsletter systems) and event/registration systems. Typical clients are small and medium-sized businesses, clubs and organisations.
Do you also further develop existing applications?
Yes. After a technical assessment I also take over systems originally developed by others – including bug fixing, updates and further development.
Is long-term maintenance possible?
Yes, long-term support is explicitly part of the offering: updates, backup checks, bug fixing and continuous further development – scope and model are agreed individually.
Which technologies are used?
The focus is on PHP/Laravel, Shopware 6, modern web frontends (HTML, CSS/Tailwind, JavaScript), MySQL/MariaDB and open-source systems such as Nextcloud and listmonk on Linux servers. Technology choice follows the project – not the other way around.
How does a project start?
It starts with a non-binding initial meeting: needs, goals and constraints. This is followed by structured requirements, a comprehensible concept with an effort estimate – and only then the implementation.
Is remote collaboration possible?
Yes, collaboration is mostly remote and possible nationwide – with regular coordination via video, phone or e-mail.
Can existing systems be integrated?
Yes. Integrations via APIs (e.g. REST), webhooks or data imports/exports are regularly part of projects – for example between shop, newsletter and administration systems.
